The Latin America and the Caribbean Outsourcing decade
Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) has been identified as one of the locations with the highest potential for development in the offshoring sector. This is the result of a combination of favorable factors, including: improved economic and political stability, cost structure, availability of qualified human resources and, government support. During the past decade, LAC’s participation in the global services market has gradually increased. This growth has been driven by a growing number of foreign direct investment projects established on the continent. This panel will discuss LAC’s potential to position itself as an important player in the global outsourcing industry.

Human Capital Development for Global Services
Skill availability and ability to scale is considered fundamental for the Outsourcing industry. Today companies have begun selecting locations largely determined by their available qualified people capabilities. Also, the increasing maturity of service providers in delivering more complex services has helped many delivery centers in moving higher up the value chain in terms of services offered. Buyers are increasingly moving product design, R&D and other complex operations to outsourcing destinations to take advantage of the availability of highly skilled talent pools. On this panel, successful human capital development initiatives to meet the challenges of the global services industry will be presented and discussed.

The Global Services Industry requires a regulatory framework that meets the unique needs of global services companies and investors. The global demand for Animation was estimated at US$80 billion in 2010. This niche, although highly fragmented, provides opportunities for Latin American and Caribbean nations especially as global demand increases, and supply for animation, game development and multimedia services remain centered in costly production centers in North America and Europe. This fast-emerging segment is now developing in diverse countries such as the Philippines, Czech Republic and Colombia. Moreover, in the last years the Engineering Services industry has been growing in importance as new technologies develop and industries require more segmented approaches. ESO includes the processes involved in designing products, processes, and infrastructure related to engineering.
